And then they were totally blue!
My ears, that is. I bleached, then dyed, the bottom half of my hair blue. Well, at home I got as far as bleaching and turning my hair a pale green color that made it look chlorine-stained. I got my ears, and they turned out the nice turquoise shade I was trying for. Then I went to the lady who cuts-ahem, used to cut-my hair. She told me it was hopeless and I should wait for it to grow out. She also told me to take lots of pictures so I would remember my horrible mistake. She didn't seem to get that I liked it way better than plain brown, even if it didn't turn out exactly as I wanted.

Then, my neighbor recommended a different hair stylist, who not only got exactly what I was going for, but also managed to dye it a nice, vibrant, rich blue for me, no problem.

I'm tempted to write about how free and self-expressed I feel now, but I guess that's obvious. :)

Awesome! I want pictures--and you are tempting me to dye my hair red again...

You would look so hot that way! Do you mean like fire hydrant red, or redhead red? I can see benefits to each. :)

You didn't have it blue for WisCon did you? Because in one of the panels I went to, there was a lady sitting in front of me, whose hair I was admiring. It was only blue on the bottom layer. I've never had the cajones to dye my hair non-natural colors, but often admire folks whose hair is. One lady at WisCon had long rainbow-colored ponytails. I only caught a glimpse of them, but thought to myself that I wish I had the nerve to do that becaue they were so beautiful! But I don't like to draw attention to myself (hence the fear of public speaking and public singing) so I've never done that. But the bottom layer, I think I could seriously consider that. I could probably even get away with blaming it on mid-life crisis. lol

Yeah, that was me! I can't believe we were so close to each other and didn't talk. Like two ships and all that. Which panel was it?

You know, it's funny. I spent most of my life terrified to even cut my hair, much less dye it. And now, it just seems like, well, hair. Kind of like a hat or something. I don't know what caused the sudden shift, but I love it.

Wish I had seen the rainbow braids; too cool!
